The Royal Bank of Scotland Scottish Varsity Matches returned to take centre stage on the international pitch at BT Murrayfield on Saturday 23th September 2017.
Over 10,200 supporters, students, alumni, friends and family attended the next chapter in this ancient rivalry when Scotland's two oldest universities battled for glory, in what is the showcase event of student rugby in Scotland.
The women's Varsity contest saw the University of Edinburgh retain their unbeaten run in the women’s XV Varsity contest as they defeated the University of St Andrews 53-5, with Amy Walter receiving the Keri Holdsworth Player of the Match.
In the Men's fixture, The University of Edinburgh ended University of St Andrews reign as they claimed the victory in the world’s oldest Varsity match at BT Murrayfield (31-7), in front of a 10,226 strong crowd.
St Andrews have previously won the last four encounters, yet Edinburgh’s sharp and fast attack proved too much for the Saints.
