On the 24th September the world’s oldest varsity match returned to take centre stage on the international pitch at BT Murrayfield. Following last season’s successful flagship contest, a crowd of over 10,000 students, alumni, friends and family turned up to cheer on Scotland's two oldest universities, who once again produced an outstanding exhibition of student rugby.
In the Women's game a very dominant Edinburgh side, which included four Scottish internationals and an England U20s player, ran away with a convincing 97-0 victory.
After last year's nail biting last minute touchline conversion from St Andrews to take victory in the Men's fixture, the University of Edinburgh were set on revenge this year and took an early lead with an opening try after just 7 minutes. Nevertheless, after the early scare St Andrews came back with a strong performance and eventually ran out worthy winners 24-12.
